Reform milestone
24 October 2025
On 24 October 2025 the Financial Action Task Force removed South Africa from its list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, confirming that all 22 action items agreed in 2023 were substantially completed.
Independent, international verification of reform: the FATF assessed South Africa's anti-money-laundering and counter-terror-financing systems against 22 specific action items over two and a half years — and confirmed the work was done.

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System has delivered two interim reports (17 December 2025 and 29 May 2026), referring matters for criminal investigation and urgent prosecution decisions. Final report due by 31 August 2026.
Implementation of the Zondo Commission's recommendations continues across prosecutions, asset recovery and institutional reform, with billions of rand recovered through the SIU and NPA. This tracker publishes specific, sourced figures per recommendation as they are verified against official reporting.
