South Africa exits the FATF greylist after completing all 22 action items

South Africa exits the FATF greylist after completing all 22 action items
National

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) announced at its October 2025 Plenary in Paris that South Africa has been removed from the list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring — the so-called greylist. South Africa was greylisted in February 2023 and committed to an action plan of 22 items to strengthen its anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing systems. National Treasury confirmed that the exit reflects sustained work across the Financial Intelligence Centre, the South African Reserve Bank, the NPA, SARS and other institutions. The exit restores confidence in South Africa's financial governance, reduces friction for cross-border transactions, and signals to investors that institutional reform is delivering measurable results.
